Free web hosting, is it always a disaster?

Free web hosting sounds good at first but does it bring you any real benefits when it comes to your online publishing? Experienced and successful online publishers (those who make money online) will tell you to not rely on free web hosting alone. Why? – They’ll argue that free web hosting is an absolute disaster–a series of catastrophes just waiting to happen. They’ll plead with you to get your own hosting plan and pay for hosting and to never, ever solely rely on a free hosting option.

Overall, this persuasive position is absolutely understandable. In general, you shouldn’t use a free host if you intend to use a site to make money online. There are considerable reliability issues, destructive forced advertising problems, potential content restrictions and that ever-present chance that your whole site and all of your content could disappear at any time without warning – your whole work is totally in other hands if you rely on free hosting. Besides, if you have your own site, using your own domain name and hosting account you are on the safe side, as nobody will take away your work under normal circumstances. Good web hosting is very inexpensive (at around 10-15 bucks per month) and easy to find.

However, you don’t want to take the “no free hosting” argument to its extreme. There are situations when it’s okay to use a free hosting option for smaller aspects of your overall online publishing strategy. By setting up free blogs at Blogger.com and Wordpress, lenses at Squidoo and hubs at Hubpages, you can improve your site’s search engine performance through more back links from such high page ranked sites and thus increase your bottom line. But you really won’t rely solely on free web hosting. Use a paid cheap web hosting solution which is really inexpensive for your money site and complement this with free web hosting to drive more traffic to your money site.

Go view this video first: youtube.com You can see why I made this on the video. I call BS on the cms’s time of 2:01. I know many of you are wondering of the legitimacy of the cms’s video. I hope this proves it. Edit 6/30/08: I think many are missing the point. It’s not a battle of what pot/SE/equipment. Nor do i care whether if it’s sped up or speed hack. It’s only to prove that cms nl’s version was altered to post a faster than realistically possible. Is my video 100% proof? of course not. I was impressed like many when I first watched it but after a couple of times you start noticing something odd so I wanted to test it myself. by the way… cms NL did use SE30. So did I. I thought my “thanks to Vnthi3f for SE30″ at the end of the video would be clear enough. For now, it’s impossible for any NL to hit those kinds of numbers without SE. Edit 7/2/08: LOL. Do you guys do realize that Claw Booster speed = “fastest”? I don’t care what claw you own. With booster, 100 shots per minute. You cannot exceed that until new skills are out. the cms video was made 6months+ ago. There were no Pirates back then…. wow. i hope some of you never reproduce.
